OVER AND UNDER: Berlin hosted an Australian charm offensive with a touch of American zen at Friday's opening of the Nomad Two Worlds exhibition. At the black-tie event, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee joined designer Donna Karan in delighting a crowd of local celebs, art collectors and creative types. Guests were treated to musical performances and reading from some of the contributing Aboriginal artists.

"Art is supposed to melt the hearts of the audience,"  said Jackman, introducing a musical performance by Aboriginal artists Clifton Bieundurry, Nathan Mundraby and Edwin Lee Mulligan.

Photographer Russell James's photo-painting collaborations with indigenous communities from his native Australia, the United States, and Haiti had its European debut here with local gallery Camera Work. “This is where we belong,” said James of Germany's capital. “Berlin represents what we're about — resolution of conflict.”

Donna Karan, a longtime supporter the of Nomad Two Worlds project, was also on hand to highlight its new collection of Haitian collaborations sponsored by her Urban Zen foundation in conjunction with the Clinton Global Initiative.

“Dressing people is wonderful,” said Karan, showing off the horn cuffs and bracelets from Haiti's artisans lining her arms, and the paper maché woven handbag from the country's craftsmen on her arm. But now, she explained, she's "addressing what's inside people - the body, soul and spirit."
