MEMORIES OF JAPAN: The latest exhibition at the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation in Paris is dedicated to costumes used in Japanese Kabuki theater, a popular art the pair used to enjoy together on trips to Japan. The event, curated by Aurélie Samuel, the manager of textile collections at the Musée Guimet, shows a selection of elaborately decorated costumes and accessories from the 20th century and features stamps, theatre programs and films illustrating the art of Kabuki, which has been popular in Japan since the 17th century. “Kabuki has had a significant influence on fashion in Japan over the years,” Samuel explained. “There were even publications about the actors, like the Japanese gossip magazines of their time.” The exhibition runs until July 15.
