Is consolidation in the online subscription segment starting? If others follow JustFab’s lead, that could be the case. The El Segundo, Calif.-based subscription-driven online footwear destination has acquired another subscription business, San Francisco-based children’s apparel Web site FabKids, for an undisclosed amount. “What we loved most about FabKids is that it has been very successful in a category that we were interested in and their business has many of the same great attributes as JustFab,” said Adam Goldenberg, co-chief executive officer of JustFab. “FabKids has a high repeat purchasing pattern, a low attrition rate and a passionate and engaged membership base. The businesses were primed tocome together.” By leveraging JustFab’s capabilities, FabKids plans to reach into new categories and outside of the United States. FabKid’s staff will remain in San Francisco, including ceo and founder Andy Moss, who previously started aggregated shopping site ShopStyle. Actress and mom Christina Applegate, who serves as FabKid’s creative partner, is also staying on board. FabKids, which launched last year and offers subscribers three-piece girls’ outfits monthly for $39.95, is introducing boys clothing in the third quarter of this year.
