Gilt Launches Customer-Loyalty Program

Gilt Insider Program members are rewarded not only for spending but for interacting with the flash-sale site.

JUST REWARDS: Gilt today becomes the first flash-sale site to offer a customer-loyalty program. Gilt Insider Program members are rewarded not only for spending but for interacting with the site. Points can be earned for making a purchase, referring friends or simply visiting a Gilt.com sale. Points can also be exchanged for perks, such as early access to sales, discounts, free shipping and invitations to events.

As members accrue points, they qualify for status in one of three tiers: select, premium or noir. Benefits change based on tier. As members move up, they get wait-list priority and a dedicated customer service line. Points necessary for benefits range from 3,500 for free domestic shipping to 25,000 for shop rewards worth $80 to $100. Members will receive five points for every dollar spent, 25 points for friend referrals and 100 points for visiting the site five days in a row. “It’s expensive from a technology perspective,” Elizabeth Francis, chief marketing officer, said of the program. “We communicate frequently with our customers. We knew what our members wanted. This is a great way for us to engage.”
