COMMON CAUSE: During the seasonal pre-show press conference organized by Camera Nazionale della Moda on Thursday, vice president Anna Zegna indicated cohesiveness and solidarity among the industry’s different players as the main ingredients to tackle the recession. In order to boost a sustainable expansion of the Italian fashion and textile industry, Zegna unveiled a new collective project, called “Manifesto for the sustainability in Italian Fashion.” The manifesto, organized in ten main points, provides suggestions on how to improve companies’ green and ethical approach to production, distribution, marketing and communication.
On Sept.19, 100,000 students from all of Milan’s fashion, art and design schools will host a live performance in Piazza del Duomo physically recreating the “Terzo Paradiso,” the symbol designed by Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto and chosen to represent the manifesto.
The list of events scheduled for the upcoming Milan Fashion Week also includes the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to fashion photographer Juergen Teller on Sept. 20 at Palazzo Reale. Mario Boselli, head of the Camera, is arranging a tribute to late fashion icon Anna Piaggi on the following day, at the same site.
In addition, during the press conference, designer Carlo Capasa announced the launch of the Camera’s new iPhone and iPad app, which allows users to watch the live-stream of the runway shows.
