Fast Retailing chairman and chief executive officer Tadashi Yanai has retained his title of Japan’s richest man for the second year, according to Forbes magazine’s annual wealth ranking. The business magazine published its rich list this week and it estimates Yanai’s fortune to be worth $9.2 billion, up $3.1 billion from the previous year. The Uniqlo founder just attended the National Retail Federation’s convention and expo in New York. During his trip, he confirmed that Uniqlo plans to open more stores in the U.S. (the brand has just one American store in New York) and break into new markets such as Germany and Spain, but he declined to specify a timeline for the rollout.
