Humberto Leon and Carol Lim Celebrate Book, Adidas Collection

With the Los Angeles, New York and London events behind them, the duo is heading next to Tokyo.

OPENING CEREMONIES: Humberto Leon and Carol Lim spent a few days in their native California last week to celebrate their 10-year anniversary Rizzoli Book with a signing at Opening Ceremony’s La Cienega Boulevard outpost hosted by Jason Schwartzman, followed by a night of ping pong at Spin Standard to fete their table-tennis inspired collection with Adidas Originals. “Humberto and I both played tennis in high school and we grew up with ping pong,” said Lim.  “We’re always looking for pieces that we can play our favorite sports in, but that mix in with everyday clothing. Our first [Adidas] collection was all about swimming and cycling,” said Lim, who also made time for her Los Angeles ritual of chowing down at her favorite Koreatown haunts. No doubt there were many calories burned during the party, where Spike Jonze, Rita Ora, Alessandra Balazs and other hipsters battled with the paddles till the wee hours. With the Los Angeles, New York and London events behind them, the duo is heading next to Tokyo for another dual-occasion: another book-signing and the opening of their fourth store there.
