NORTHERN LIGHTS: Hermès International is bringing a traveling exhibition to Lille to celebrate the refurbishment of its store in the northern French city.

Designed by Hilton McConnico, it will go on display at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Sept. 14 to 19. Titled “Le temps devant soi” (“The Gift of Time” in English) after the house’s 2012 theme, the exhibit was first seen in Hong Kong from June 21 to July 3. It will also make a stop in Singapore from Aug. 1 to 12.

Hermès plans to unveil its revamped store at 8 Rue Grande Chaussée near the center of Lille on Sept. 13.

Interior architecture agency RDAI, which designs all Hermès stores, has transformed the 2,650-square foot space by blending the style of the Parisian house with local architectural features.

The 17th century façade, painted in pink and yellow ochre, frames a double door and two ground-floor windows. A mosaic floor in Lille-manufactured grey and brown sandstone depicts a horse-drawn carriage — the house’s logo.

The ground floor of the store, which opened in 1977, houses silk scarves, jewelry and watches, and the men’s ready-to-wear and shoe collections. The first floor displays leather goods, more jewelry, and women’s ready-to-wear and fashion accessories.
