HEADING TO SHANGHAI: Derek Lam will be spending his Thanksgiving in a far-flung location this year. Lam is heading to Shanghai next week, where Nov. 20, he will host a party with Shopbop.com, which launched a fully-translated Mandarin site last year. The event, at the new Unico restaurant on the Bund, will serve to introduce the designer’s 10 Crosby Derek Lam resort collection to Chinese clients. “Shopbop has become one of the most popular online partners for 10 Crosby Derek Lam in the U.S.,” Lam said. “And that success has now translated into Shopbop being the premiere online resource in China for the brand.”
It’s not all work and no play for the designer though. Post-bash, he and his husband (and business partner) Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann are heading to Hangzhou, where they will stay at the luxury Amanfayun resort. No word on whether turkey is on the menu, though.
