FETE ACCOMPLI: Who feels like celebrating, given the difficult economic climate? Not François-Henri Pinault. The affable, low-key PPR honcho, named 2008 Person of the Year by the French-American Chamber of Commerce, has expressed his “profound gratitude” for the honor, but said “No thanks” to the Nov. 13 gala dinner that went along with it. “I consider that the time is not right for celebration,” he wrote in a message to the chamber, which plans to resume its gala next year. Past recipients of the honor, handed out since 1984, include L’Oréal’s Lindsay Owen-Jones and LVMH’s Bernard Arnault.
