ANDY AND DIANE: Decades after Diane von Furstenberg posed for Andy Warhol’s famed portraits — and participated in the downtown scene with the artist at Studio 54 — the designer is collaborating with the late Pop icon once again, this time teaming up with The Andy Warhol Foundation to create a resort 2008 and pre-spring 2009 collection of swimwear and cover-ups featuring Warhol’s prints. “Andy’s Pop colors and iconic images feel glamorous and right for beach,” said von Furstenberg, who noted that the artist served as a major inspiration during her early years as a designer. Warhol, who twice put the designer on the cover of Interview, worked with bright hues and big-leaf flowers, which von Furstenberg has splashed on caftans, bikinis and one-piece suits. “Andy and I were contemporaries,” von Furstenberg explained, “so it feels right.”
