GUESS GETS SCHOOLED: Former Ann Taylor president Christine M. Beauchamp and former Gap and J. Crew executive Tracy Gardner will inaugurate the Guess professorship at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study as Distinguished Visiting Professors in Fashion and Fashion Business. Beauchamp, who held positions at Limited Brands from 2003 to 2007, including president and chief executive officer of Victoria’s Secret Beauty, will teach this fall, followed in the spring semester by Gardner, who was vice president and senior vice president of merchandising at Gap Inc. from 1999 to 2004.

The chair was established earlier this year through a $2.5 million gift from the Guess Foundation and an additional $250,000 from the Maurice Marciano Family Foundation to teach students to fuse the creative and business sides of fashion. “A lot of college students have very creative minds and a vision for fashion, but are missing knowledge of the financial aspects of the industry,” said Guess co-founder Maurice Marciano. “Christine and Tracy are ideally suited to linking these integral elements of our business for NYU students.”

As part of their duties as chairholders, Beauchamp and Gardner will each teach a course at Gallatin and make at least one public presentation during their tenures, which could include giving a lecture, hosting a workshop or leading symposium.
