GUESS CELEBRATION: Guess Inc. chairman Maurice Marciano had plenty to celebrate Wednesday night, when the company threw a cocktail party to fete the worldwide launch of Seductive, its first women’s scent produced under a new license with Coty Inc., at the Hollywood club The Colony hosted by Vanessa Hudgens and DJ’d by Solange Knowles. He reported sales of Seductive, which was available in stores across the globe in September, are “way ahead of our plan, so I’m a very happy.” “Our core customer really is 18 to 23, and I think it has reached women all the way up to 35 because it is so voluptuous and it is so easy to wear,” said Marciano.

Guess is already working on follow-ups to Seductive, including Guess by Marciano and male fragrances. Alyssa Miller, the California-born model photographed by Vincent Peters for the Seductive ad campaign, gave her stamp of approval for a Guess cologne. “I’m sure they are going to hit the nail right on the head,” she said, before adding, “It’s a turn-on when your guy smells good.”

MURPHY DEPARTS: Mayor Bloomberg’s point man for all things fashion — Patrick Murphy has exited NYCEDC and will join Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s Reiser Group wealth management team. He will partner with David Reiser in new business development.

Murphy, NYCEDC’s former director of the fashion/retail team, said he was leaving on a high note, following Mercedes Benz Fashion Week’s move to Lincoln Center, the CFDA Fashion Incubator’s launch and Fashion.NYC.2020, a yet-to-be-released yearlong study of the fashion industry’s future. NYCEDC will maintain the fashion/retail team.

DRIVE, HE SAID: They say “Never work with children or animals,” but at the Théâtre du Merveilleux in Paris on Wednesday evening, French fashion designer Franck Sorbier threw caution to the wind. At an event sponsored by Chevrolet, models dressed in evening gowns took pedigree pooches for walk down the runway or were chauffeur driven in vintage cars, children in tow.
