CHIC CONSTRUCTION: The theme of Houston’s Alley Theatre gala was “Ultimate Construction,” and from the collection of Gucci gowns and tuxedos worn by Hollywood elite on display, as well as the slate and yellow décor designed by Gucci for the event, the evening lived up to its name.

In a city loaded with fundraising galas and parties, longtime Gucci brand ambassadors and gala chairs Andrew Cordes and Brian H. Teichman knew they wanted to create a memorable evening, so they called Gucci. “We wanted to do something different, so we called on our connections. Gucci was onboard, the ‘Ultimate Construction’ theme evolved and through a group effort, we created this,” Teichman said.

Teichman and Cordes were dressed in custom white tuxedos from the collection by Lapo Elkann for Gucci and each customized their tuxedos with touches like vibrant lining. Gucci upped the ante with the red carpet display that included Amy Adams’ navy gown from the 2014 Oscars, Mila Kunis’ Gucci Premiere gown from the 2014 Golden Globes, a blush Gucci gown worn by Salma Hayek Pinault and tuxedos worn by John Legend and James Franco.

Gladys Knight took the stage at 10 p.m., ending her set with “Midnight Train to Georgia.”

The event drew a coterie of Alley Theatre supporters including Lynn Wyatt, Gregory Boyd and Cartier’s Kari Gonzales. Luxury retailers Montblanc and Omega were in-kind supporters of the gala.
