'Great Britons' Stamp Collection Issued

The Royal Mail’s Special Stamp program issued its newest range of first class stamps — each costing 60 pence, or $0.92 — on Wednesday.

SPECIAL DELIVERY: The late celebrity snapper Sir Norman Parkinson is back in the frame — of sorts — as the subject of a first-class stamp in Britain. The Royal Mail’s Special Stamp program issued its newest range of first class stamps — each costing 60 pence, or $0.92 — on Wednesday. Its latest “Great Britons” collection honors ten notables from various industries whose birthday anniversaries occur in 2013. In addition to Parkinson, the list includes Vivien Leigh and the actor Peter Cushing. “We hope the stamps will serve as a lasting tribute to their memory, and once again encourage people to remember their significant contribution to our great British way of life,” said Andrew Hammond, a spokesman for the Royal Mail Stamps.
