GQ Hosts Book Release Party in Milan

Designers, retailers and p.r.’s galore packed into 10 Corso Como on Saturday night to celebrate the new photo book, “GQ Men.”

PRETTY PICTURES: Designers, retailers and p.r.’s galore packed into Milan’s 10 Corso Como on Saturday night to celebrate the launch of GQ’s new photo book, “GQ Men.” The book spans nearly seven decades of photographs showing the evolution of men and their styles as seen through the lenses of Bruce Weber, Mario Testino, Brigitte Lacombe and others.

Kean Etro, Etro men’s wear creative director, said he has just compiled a limited-edition book of his own, “Happy Tailoring.” It gathers images of the people who manufacture Etro’s sartorial pieces in Italy’s Apulia region.

Etro said that he also filmed three videos focused on the same theme to be unveiled during the brand’s runway show today.

Italo Zucchelli arrived at the store with American rapper Future and New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz, who revealed some of his plans for 2014: “I’m moving into a new house I bought, the first one all by myself, and this year I want to be a better person, working a lot on myself,” Cruz said.

Musicians are the real contemporary style icons, according to Neil Barrett. “It’s people like A$AP [Rocky],“ he said, “and of course I love Justin Timberlake. I feel musicians are more influential than movie stars, because music really gets to you.”

Tod’s chief Diego Della Valle was also at the event along with his brother Andrea Della Valle, who talked about their ambitions for Hogan.

“The goal is to push the internationalization of the brand in the Far East and in the United States,” he said, revealing that the company will open a new store in New York’s SoHo district in 2015. The flagship will showcase a new concept, which Hogan will also apply to its Milan store. The latter will be revamped in the second half of this year.

Other attendees included Umit Benan, Carlo and Ennio Capasa, Gaia Trussardi, Eidos creative director Antonio K. Ciongoli and Brioni creative director Brendan Mullane.
