GOODY BLUE SHOES: Asked to collaborate with Melissa, the Brazilian maker of colorful jelly shoes, Karl Lagerfeld decided to wave the country’s national flag. Unveiling his first design exclusively to WWD, Lagerfeld incorporates the colors of the flag into a curvy Mary Jane. “The best way to know a country is to work with people from that country,” the designer said.
The collection’s official launch is scheduled for March 26 in New York at the Galeria Melissa, which will unveil a photo exhibition by Lagerfeld in the presence of the designer. Shipments are destined for Brazil in March, the rest of South America in April, and Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and Africa in June.
Lagerfeld signed on for four seasons with Melissa.
