British Fashion Council Gears Up for 2012 Olympics

The BFC is planning a series of cultural and design-driven projects, all under the Fashion 2012 umbrella.

GOLD STANDARD: The British Fashion Council is gearing up for the 2012 Olympic Games in London with a series of cultural and design-driven projects, all under the Fashion 2012 umbrella. The BFC is planning special showcases and exhibitions of British fashion that will take place during both London Fashion Weeks next year. It also plans to promote British men’s wear in the U.K. and abroad, and bring emerging fashion designers from around the world to London as part of an international showcase.

The BFC will be working with Adidas on an educational project, and is behind a plan to unite British designers with visual artists. Designers including Christopher Bailey, Hussein Chalayan, Sarah Burton, Giles Deacon and Paul Smith are collaborating with visual artists such as Charming Baker and Marc Quinn to create one-off works that focus on Olympic and Paralympic values.
