FOR LIBERTY: Genetic Denim creative director and owner Ali Fatourechi and his latest guest designer, pal Liberty Ross, celebrated the launch of the Genetic x Liberty Ross capsule collection Friday night at the Beverly Hills home of Guy Oseary, best known as Madonna's manager. Coincidentally, the party had a similarly relaxed, insider-y vibe to the pop diva's post-Oscars dance party. The theme, however, wasn’t dancing. It was Angelenos' other favorite social activity – sipping craft cocktails and grazing at artisanal food stations, al fresco, of course. “It’s all about a series of ‘LA moments’ now. This is a great city and the people here are the reason why, and it’s time everyone knew that – while still keeping it ‘in the family,’ of course,” laughed Fatourechi. The turf-covered tennis court was transformed into a rustic picnic/lounge area, with the surrounding oak tress lit to perfection along with trellised areas strung with mini-bulbs. Standing out of the fray in one of these areas was Ross, who said, “I’m stealing away to eat some macaroni and cheese, which is the best part, really.” She said of her first design venture, “I really appreciate what designers do now. It’s like when I was a model and I saw all the work that went into making the pictures, now I see what it takes to make clothes. It’s a tough job." Ross also modeled for the campaign, and her black and white photos were hung throughout the open-air living room as vignettes. “It’s not your typical launch party because this is just so easy and people can be themselves, come and go as they please, stay as late as they please,” she said. The party was supposed to wind down by 11 p.m., but there were a few stragglers, and while Oseary made a few rounds to chat to friends, he let Ross and Fatourechi play co-hosts. The crowd included a bevy of stylists and hipsters as well as Liz Goldwyn, Brigette Romanek, Maria Shriver, and art collectors Dasha Zhukova, Bill Bell and Vivi Nevo. – Marcy Medina
