MATERIAL BOY: Jean Paul Gaultier is taking his signature sailor stripes and tattoo prints into the world of home textiles and accessories. The French designer has signed a licensing pact with Paris-based fabric specialist Lelievre, which also markets curtains, cushions, throws and the like under brands including Missoni Home, Sonia Rykiel Maison, Alacantra and Kenzo Maison.
“I’m only a couturier,” Gaultier said. “My métier is the art of dressing, and I’ve channeled the codes of my collections into these furnishing fabrics.”
The Jean Paul Gaultier par Lelievre collection, comprising eight textile ranges, is to be unveiled to the trade in September.
