TWO TO TANGO: If it were a film, it might be read as a sequel. In fact, Gaultier 2 is the name of Jean Paul Gaultier’s new streetwear line for men and woman, WWD has learned. Sales of the debut spring 2014 collection, under a new licensing agreement with Italian manufacturer Ittierre SpA, are scheduled to kick off in Paris on June 30, the last day of the men’s shows and on the eve of couture week in the French capital. (The collection is also slated to travel to Milan, Berlin, New York, Hong Kong and other cities.)
Gaultier has had a series of younger lines under various monikers over his long career, including Junior Gaultier, Gaultier Jeans, Jeans Paul Gaultier and Gaultier Puissance 2.
In another Italy-linked project, Gaultier is to stage a haute couture show titled “La Parisienne” on July 7 as the marquee event of AltaRoma AltaModa’s 23rd edition. Featuring fashion shows, exhibitions and other happenings, the event runs July 6 to 10 in the Eternal City.
