Gabrielle Union, who was seated in the front row of the Badgley Mischka fashion show, said she met James Mischka and Mark Badgley Tuesday morning. “I pared it down this season to just Badgley Mischka and J.Mendel,” said the 37-year-old actress, who selected those two shows because the designers are “lovers of women” in the way they design. “Some are masochistic,” she said. Union said she just sold a film to Lifetime called “The Vow,” which is about four college friends who decide to get married within a year. Asked if they marry each other, she laughed and said that would be too easy. Union shared the front-row spotlight with Kristin Cavallari, Kelly Bensimon and Denise Richards.
Also in the Badgley Mischka crowd were Nicholas Graham (of Joe Boxer fame); Silas Chou and his daughter, Veronica, president of Iconix China, which markets brands such as Badgley Mischka, Rampage and London Fog in China, as well as Mindy Grossman, chief executive officer of HSN. Grossman said the network will sell Mischka and Badgley’s American Glamour collection on-air Sept. 24. “We will sell the entire apparel collection, footwear and accessories on HSN. They’re great on the show and they also bring their dogs,” said Grossman. And, while plugging HSN, Grossman added that Reem Acra will launch Reem by Reem Acra on HSN Sept. 22. That same night, Madonna will be making an appearance at Macy’s to promote the new Material Girl junior collection, produced by Iconix, said Neil Cole, ceo of Iconix, parent firm of Badgley Mischka and Material Girl. “It’s doing phenomenally well,” he added.
