ON THE RUNWAY: French Couture Week Singapore, a three-day showcase of Parisian labels, kicks off Friday. Designers such as Christophe Josse, Alexis Mabille and Maurizio Galante are participating in this second edition of the event. While some of the couturiers have created new pieces for the Singapore shows, others will display looks from their previous collections. Held at the glitzy Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, French Couture Week Singapore will follow three nights of displays by Asian couture designers such as China's Guo Pei and Japan's Junko Shimada. All of the Asian couture designer shows so far have been standing room only, according to organizers. The French couture event will commence with a symposium featuring the participantion of International Herald Tribune fashion editor Suzy Menkes, Chambre Syndicale president Didier Grumbach, and nowfashion.com editor-in-chief Jessica Michault.
