Harry Winston, known for its association with Indian jewelry — its longtime designer, Ambaji Shinde, created pieces for the house for 40 plus years in addition to spectacular pieces for the Maharajas — flew in India’s most precious jewel especially for fashion week.

Freida Pinto made her first-ever New York Fashion Week appearance to host a fete at Winston’s Fifth Avenue salon on Sunday night, and like most guests —who included Gerard Butler and Jennifer Esposito — the remarkable gems in the store dazzled her.
“When I was a little girl in school my friend and I would read fashion magazines with advertisements for Harry Winston,” mused Pinto, dressed in a peach Missoni and diamonds galore. “I always said to myself that one day I’m going to own a Harry Winston ring and my friend was going to have the watch. Today, I called my friend and said ‘You’re behind. I’m one step ahead of you.’”

Pinto also talked about working with Woody Allen, who is directing her in a yet-to-be-named film. “It’s very spontaneous. You can’t really prepare or expect anything,” she said. “He wants you to feel the moment.”
