France's First Lady Friend Sticks to Classics During Stateside Visit

Valérie Trierweiler wore French contemporary brands while in New York.

FRENCH CLASS: Valérie Trierweiler, the partner of France’s President François Hollande, stuck to her down-to-earth, classical style during the presidential visit to New York, which ran from Sept. 24 to 26.

Mere hours before Hollande gave his first speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Trierweiler took a two-hour tour of the Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn. She opted to wear a silk white shirt, anthracite cigarette pants and a houndstooth jacket with shawl collar — all from contemporary French brand Apostrophe. Her accessories included a rectangular beige-and-caramel bag from Tara Jarmon’s fall collection and taupe-colored pumps by France’s Atelier Mercadal.

Later in the day, when Hollande and Trierweiler visited the September 11 Memorial Park & Museum, she was seen in the same Apostrophe silk shirt, but in Yves Klein blue, black pants and a similarly-hued jacket from Apostrophe’s sister brand Georges Rech. There was then a reception for the French visitors at the Roseland Ballroom on 52th Street, followed by a private dinner at Brooklyn’s River Café.

On Wednesday while visiting The Morgan Library & Museum, Trierweiler wore a Gerard Darel white jacket and carried a sac from Le Tanneur.
