SOZZANI’S NEW ROLE: Italian Vogue editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani has been named president of the board of directors at the European Oncology Institute (IEO) Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for cancer research.
Saying she was “very proud” of the nomination, Sozzani noted the institute: “is excellent, recognized on a global scale, thanks to the professionalism of all its doctors who work with dedication and commitment.”
“It is fundamental to continue to drive research opportunities and to finance projects that can fight all kinds of tumors,” she added. “I pledge my total commitment to the IEO Foundation, following the path set out by my predecessors.”
Established by noted Italian surgeon and oncologist Umberto Veronesi in 1994, the IEO Foundation supports cancer prevention efforts and early diagnosis; medical education and instruction; and research and treatment.
