FOR PETE’S SAKE: Peter Brant Jr.’s parents have had their share of knockdown, drag ‘em out fights in the press, but that hasn’t deterred the 17-year-old from getting into journalism. The Greenwich High Schooler has a new gig at Interview magazine as of November. “I will be interviewing Daphne Guinness, who is an old friend of mine. Ralph Lauren, people like that. John Galliano.”
Off to Hunter College in January, Brant said his media studies have pretty much been nil. “Besides having a 45-minute chat with Charlie Rose in Vienna about how to interview someone. That’s about it,” he said.
Considering all the words that have been spilled on his parents, Stephanie Seymour and Peter Brant, the new scribe got some advice from both. Should ill-willed reports circulate, it is best to be strong and not acknowledge them, he said. “It never comes out as you said it,” Brant said.
However, “the only reason” his mother “ever went on Oprah” was to set the record straight about the widely-publicized photo of her and the young Brant walking arm-in-arm on the beach. That kind of media onslaught should make him more sensitive as an interviewer, he said.
Dressed in white tie -save for his black pants — the precocious teen said Saturday at Lincoln Center that he, like his siblings, shares his father’s passion for art. And apparently he is savvy enough not to name any of his prize finds. “We’re all involved with The Brant Foundation. If my father finds an artist he likes, we will each buy a piece. We are always looking for the next up-and-coming artist.”
