Ferragamo Shoes Star in London Dance Production

Show features more than 250 pairs.

Salvatore Ferragamo’s hand-made vintage-derived Creations collection will appear in “Shoes” a Sadler’s Wells musical production

Six iconic pairs of shoes from Salvatore Ferragamo’s hand-made, vintage-derived Creations collection will appear in “Shoes,” a Sadler’s Wells musical production, premiering on Friday at the London theater. The show, which will roll out internationally next spring, features over 250 pairs of shoes, including Manolo Blahnik, Irregular Choice, Georgina Goodman, Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen, Nike and Oliver Sweeney.

In the case of the storied Florentine house, the styles are renditions of original models worn by Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, Carmen Miranda, Marilyn Monroe and Eva Perón. Ferragamo will also exhibit key styles from its fall 2010 collection in glass cases on the set throughout the production. In the Ferragamo act, the six female dancers will don costumes referencing Monroe and Miranda.

“If you ask anyone to pick out the most significant pair of shoes in their lifetime, you will hear as much about personal memories and emotions as you will about brands,” said Richard Thomas, composer and writer, adding that through the desire and fetish of shoes he explores the joy of life. “‘Shoes’ is basically about joy — searching for it, finding it and losing it.”
