MALLIS’ NEW GIG: Fern Mallis is adding another notch to her belt. She’s been named to the advisory board of Ahalife.com, the digital destination for product discoveries and content. To date, Ahalife.com has raised $21 million in funding from Rakuten, DCM, FirstMark Capital and angel investors, including former French Minister of Commerce Renaud Dutreil; philanthropist and filmmaker Abigail Disney, and Pulitzer Prize winner Sheryl WuDunn.
Mallis will join Ahalife’s advisory board in mid-July and will eventually curate a page of things she likes, such as travel destinations, items for the home, books and jewelry. “What’s nice about that site is each of the things includes a little story on why you like it,” she said.
Shauna Mei, founder and chief executive officer of Ahalife, told WWD that Mallis will bring “lots of relationships and discoveries that she finds through her travels” to Ahalife. Since launching two years ago, Ahalife has cultivated more than one million users who directly interact with designers and tastemakers.
