HOME AWAY FROM HOME: Fendi’s new headquarters in Milan, which it bills as having the longest runway in the Italian fashion capital, will be officially inaugurated on Sept. 19 with Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi’s spring/summer 2014 collection. The Roman brand has been showing at the work-in-progress space since last year.
The building on Via Solari, which recently housed the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, will house a permanent installation by the sculptor, along with offices, showrooms, the runway theater and an exhibition space that will welcome the public to temporary showcases on art, culture and design.
From 1926 through the early Seventies, the vast complex produced water turbines for the group Riva & Calzoni and is considered an important example of industrial archeology with its arches, windows and brick.
