WAITING ON KATE: According to industry sources, Lancome, the L'Oreal-owned beauty brand, has signed Kate Winslet to be a spokeswoman. Winslet — perhaps best known for her starring role in "Titanic" with Leonardo DiCaprio — is expected to be introduced to the press at a Lancome event tonight in Paris. She and DiCaprio are currently filming "Revolutionary Road," a movie slated for a 2008 release.

OLD AS NEW: Prada's first women's fragrance, an amber-based scent launched in 2004, may have been an exercise in quality. But now, Miuccia Prada is undertaking an exercise in originality. The September launch of Infusion d'Iris may be the debut of the house's second women's scent, but, because it's the first fragrance to feature Prada's original 94-year-old logo, it feels like the first time for the designer. The plain, vintage-looking bottle — designed by Miuccia — has a metal plate stamped with the Prada logo. The color of the box? The house's signature pale green hue, of course.

PARIS POSSE: The Ritz Club dealt a royal flush Thursday evening at a cocktail party to launch Repossi's Czarina line, codesigned by socialite Eugenie Niarchos and Gaia Repossi. Princess Caroline of Monaco and her daughter, Charlotte Casiraghi; Olympia Scarry, and Columbian heiress Tatiana Santo Domingo were among the guests who rubbed shoulders with Karl Lagerfeld, who popped in for a nightcap. Azzaro designer Vanessa Seward, accompanied by fiance Bertrand Burgalat, discussed plans for their wedding in Paris in October. "I'll be designing my own dress," she said. Meanwhile, Scarry said she was soldiering on with her art projects after a recent exhibition for the inaugural show at the gallery 20 Hoxton Square in London, where she suspended chrome-coated lingerie within a giant box of mirrors. "After tonight I'm zooming off to the Venice Biennale," she said as she hit the dance floor.

TEA AND SYMPATHY: Some brands stage a runway spectacle worthy of fashion week to unveil resort, while others prefer to present it quietly in their showrooms. For Ports 1961, the season offered a good excuse to transform its terrace space on Thursday into a botanical garden for a Mad Tea Party. Ports' creative director and designer Tia Cibani, Mary Alice Stephenson, Lucy Sykes, Ann Caruso and Eva Lorenzotti hosted the party, and the afternoon tea and fashion show brought in the likes of Gabrielle Union, Celerie Kemble, Vanessa von Bismarck, Jackie Astier and Adelina Wong. The shindig was inspired by Zelda Fitzgerald's "Mad Tea Party" painting — a suitable choice since Ports' resort collection is based on the spirit of the Twenties. Eleanor Lanahan, the granddaughter of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, was on hand to add a touch of authenticity to the afternoon. "[Zelda] would have loved it," she said.
