SLIM PICKINGS: Cynthia Rowley sure knows how to get the art crowd to a store party. Thursday night's book signing for her volume "Slim: A Fantasy Memoir" at Bergdorf Goodman brought in the likes of Ryan McGinness, Will Cotton, Inka Essenhigh, Danielle Levitt, Delia Brown, Casey and Van Neistat and Ellen Altfest. They crowded the store's fifth floor along with social types such as Celerie Kemble, Boykin Curry, Anne Slater, Carole Radziwill and Arden Wohl.

Rowley spent much of the evening signing her book with her two-year-old daughter Gigi sitting on her lap. "We're all going to be hung over on Girl Scout cookies tomorrow," the designer said.

Vanessa Carlton, whose new album "Heroes and Thieves" will be out later this year, reminisced about first meeting Rowley at a charity event to benefit LAByrinth Theater Company. "We were actually playing basketball — in high heels," she chuckled.

Kate Spade couldn't help but fawn over Rowley's drawing skills. "I didn't know she could draw so well," she joked. "I should get her to draw one of me and Bea [Spade's daughter]."

Author James Frey was equally impressed by Rowley's literary move. "It looks great, and the story is cute," Frey offered, adding jokingly, "And I am very familiar with the genre of fantasy memoirs."

TOOTING HER OWN HORN: Alice Roi's limited edition capsule collection for Uniqlo just hit the racks at the company's New York flagship at 546 Broadway on Friday and curious customers were already browsing through. Among them was Roi herself, spotted there Friday morning sifting through the racks. The designer just couldn't resist and went home with a floral print T-shirt, two floral print linen dresses and a black linen dress, all from her own collection. Hope she got a discount.

TURNING JAPANESE: Tokyo designer Tsumori Chiatso will touch down in Los Angeles today to visit her first U.S. shop installation at Third Street boutique Satine and meet with American editors and fans, who include Nicole Richie, Rachel Bilson, Beck, Shiva Rose McDermott, Lindsay Lohan and Charlyn Marshall, aka Cat Power, who are all fans of Chiatso's quirky printed tops and dresses. The 150-square-foot back room at Satine features walls stenciled with this season's skull print, executed by Chiatso's visual team. The designer is looking to grow in the American market, and may even open a U.S. flagship next door to Satine in the next few years.
