SHOWSTOPPERS: The paparazzi on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art will have more reasons than ever to go into a frenzy at next Monday's Costume Institute gala. In addition to co-chairs George Clooney and Julia Roberts, Giorgio Armani is said to be bringing along Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. The rumor mill also has Jennifer Lopez coming to the benefit with Alberta Ferretti, Kate Bosworth with Chanel, and Eva Mendes, Rachel Bilson and Fergie with Calvin Klein. Others expected to attend include celebs Mariah Carey, Renée Zellweger, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Moss, Mary J. Blige, Claire Danes, Mischa Barton and LeBron James, and designers Valentino, Tom Ford, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and Donatella Versace.

GREEN GLAMAZONS: Guess and Vogue banished the stereotype of eco-friendly clothing at Thursday night's party for the launch of the brand's organic cotton collection at its Rodeo Drive boutique. Co-hosts Amy Smart and Emmanuelle Chriqui were glammed up in Guess-supplied party outfits of slinky tops, dark organic cotton jeans and strappy sandals to greet Guess co-chairmen Maurice and Paul Marciano, and thespians Elsa Pataky, Rosario Dawson, Michele Laroque and Maria Conchita Alonso. Ten percent of the evening's sales benefited the Environmental Media Association, a Los Angeles nonprofit organization that recruited Smart to be a board member eight years ago. "Being an environmentalist is really everyone's job," Smart said. On the other hand, Chriqui sounded just like the blithe character Sloan she played in "Entourage" when she advised, "Why not wear something fabulous and save the environment at the same time?" But the poster child of the eco movement was Dawson, who not only drives a Prius, but uses a paperless vacuum cleaner. Pairing black jeans by James Cured by Seun with inverted heel pumps from Marc Jacobs' current spring collection, she thought her outfit was environmentally friendly. After all, Dawson said of her jeans, "I've had them for years."

SURF'S UP: In keeping with the unseasonably warm weather last week, Hogan hosted a private evening of shopping and cocktails, from which a portion of the sales went to the Surfrider Foundation, an organization that helps preserve oceans, waves and beaches. DJ Rene Goulet spun nightclub-volume tunes as waiters passed around blue trays of hors d'oeuvres and mint-garnished drinks to Tracy Taylor, Marcus Wainwright, David Neville, Lucy Sykes and Euan Rellie, Mary Alice Stephenson and a slew of fashion editors. Molly Sims stopped by toting a white Hogan bag before making an early departure. "I'm going to Costa Rica," she said. "I'm taking surfing lessons." Co-host Gucci Westman is something of a beach girl herself.
