SCENT OF A PRINCE: It may not be a bottle of purple rain, but a new fragrance by musician Prince, called 3121, does come in an emerald-cut-diamond-shaped bottle with a purple hue. The scent, which was dubbed 3121 for Prince's March 2006 album of the same name, will be launched at selected Macy's locations on July 7. The introduction truly has a theme of all seven; at midnight on July 7, the fragrance will be launched at 3121perfume.com and 7 percent of online sales that day will be divided between seven charities chosen by Prince and Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics Inc., which developed and will market the 3121 scent.

"Our goal is to raise $500,000 on 07-07-07," Larry Couey, president of Revelations, said in a statement. "Prince has an affinity for the number 7, it's a spiritual number," Couey said in an interview Thursday, adding, "He was very much involved in the fragrance creation. With Prince, things need to be purple." Couey noted future plans for Prince could include a branded line of 3121 accessories like jewelry and handbags. For those wondering about the aroma of eau de Prince, the white floral fragrance was blended by Adriana Medina at Givaudan and combines notes of jasmine, gardenia, muguet and tuberose, with patchouli and sandalwood.

FRIENDS NOT NEIGHBORS: Contrary to a report earlier this week, Hillary and Bill Clinton are not buying property next door to Oscar de la Renta's seaside spread in the Dominican Republic. While the political power couple have stayed with the designer and his wife Annette many times, that's as close as they have gotten to becoming landowners, de la Renta said. As another election year closes in, there's no telling where the tale began. But de la Renta said he dropped a dime to Liz Smith Thursday to set the record straight. Meanwhile, another presidential-related story is in the island wind. Shakira is said to be marrying her fiancé Antonio de la Rue, the former president of Argentina's elder son, at her Punta Cana home in September.
JOVOVICH-HAWK DOES L.A.: Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk launched their resort collection in Hollywood on Monday at Ivar Studios, which has been rechristened The Stoli Hotel for the month. "Usually only buyers get to see this collection in a dark showroom, so we thought it would be fun to make it into a party," said Jovovich, adding the inspiration for the collection is "Valley of the Dolls-meets-Blondie." Models atop a raised stage danced in black, gold, electric blue and forest green cocktail dresses. Jovovich, who just entered her second trimester of pregnancy, wasn't able to partake of the Russian cocktails on offer. She was, however, still able to fit into a fall sample. "I've gained 25 pounds, but I think some of these new dresses actually lend themselves to a baby bump," she said. "They're fitted, but they show it off really well."

HOLE IN ONE: John Pomerantz convinced 136 golfers to turn out Tuesday for the third annual Fashion Institute of Technology Golf Classic 2007 at the Quaker Ridge Country Club in Scarsdale, N.Y. The outing raised $310,000 for FIT's Educational Development Fund (beating last year's $267,000), which will go toward the school's laboratory equipment and upkeep of necessities.

Besides Pomerantz, those who played hookey from work included Stephen Sadove, Ron Frasch, Robert Skinner, Abby Doneger, Gilbert Harrison, Richard Beckman, Larry Leeds and David Chu, as well as Laura Pomerantz and Susan Sokol, who comprised half of the only female foursome.
