PORTS OF L.A.: Ports 1961 designer Tia Cibani made her second annual sojourn to Los Angeles Wednesday to show her "Fait Main" collection, the second one-off line designed specifically for Hollywood red-carpet season. Of course, the ladies who came to check out the Forties-inspired gowns and cocktail dresses, including Angie Harmon, China Chow, Molly Sims, Shiri Appleby, Sophia Bush and "Gossip Girl"'s Leighton Meester, will have considerably fewer places to wear them due to the Writers Guild strike curtailing most awards shows. (None of the actresses are SAG Awards-bound). But Cibani thought the collection was too good to be unseen, so she hired friend Bryan Adams (fresh from shooting the Guess campaign) to come to Bungalow 1 at the Chateau Marmont and shoot the black, cream and metallic frocks on a model.
KNITTING PRETTY: Stay tuned for Georgina Brandolini's next act. The chic Parisian has decided to put her signature collection of evening sweaters on hiatus, and come back with a new project once she's lined up the right financing and management. "I'm looking for a business partner," she said, noting she will keep her label and stick with fashion. "It's what I like." Brandolini launched her own line in 2003 after 22 years at Valentino and five at Balmain, opening up a small boutique on Boulevard Raspail, which just went dark.
MILAN IN MILAN: Remember Milan Vukmirovic who once designed Jil Sander? Well, he is picking up his scissors again. Vukmirovic, who is opening a luxury boutique in Miami later this year, designed a small men's collection for Trussardi, to retail for fall. Vukmirovic called the collection "hyper luxurious" and geared to men of his own generation who share a taste for the finer things in life. It will be offered at 10 to 15 retail accounts, including Barneys New York and Jeffrey, but not in Trussardi's own stores, Vukmirovic said.
SOMETHING BLUE: Europe is gripped by wedding fever, awaiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy's nuptials — secret or otherwise — to model-turned-singer Carla Bruni. Last week, a horde of Parisian paparazzi rushed to City Hall in the 16th district on what turned out to be false rumors of an imminent ceremony. Journalists and photographers waited until all the building was shut — just in case the couple showed up. Sarkozy has warned the press they are likely to learn about his next marriage after the fact, and his office declined all comment.
