POPPING UP: Karen Walker is the latest about to unleash a blink-and-you'll-miss-it pop-up store in New York. The New Zealand designer is teaming up with East Village concept shop Den to operate a boutique at 330 East 11th Street for three months. It will open during the first week of next month in time for New York Fashion Week, where Walker stages a runway show. Hers is the fourth label to occupy the Den space, after Cheap Monday, Rag & Bone and Tim Hamilton had similar pop-up stores there last year.

HELLO DOLLY: After the size zero controversy, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have gone a step further by re-creating their designs in the smallest possible proportions — doll size. The Dutch duo has dressed seven antique porcelain dolls in miniature versions of standout looks from its past collections for an installation in London's Selfridges. But they're far from prim Victorian dolls — they include one whose face is painted in black glitter, à la their fall 2001 collection, and another that wears a gold lamé dress complete with a gold mesh mask. The dolls are encased in glass cabinets in the store's Wonderwall — a regular rotating showcase for designers' and artists' work. There's also a tiny TV screen stationed by each doll, along with a pair of gold headphones, so shoppers can see the original piece in action on the runway and listen to the sounds of the show. A spokeswoman for Selfridges said the dolls, which come in an edition of three for each design, could possibly be available to buy in the concept store after the installation ends in March.

And Selfridges won't be the duo's only showcase in London this year. In June, the designers are set to unveil an exhibition of their work at the city's Barbican gallery, which will run from June 18 to Sept. 14.
