SO GOOD: Fendi's party tonight to fete its new Avenue Montaigne flagship will be the hottest ticket of the week — and we mean mob scene — when you read this next line. Amy Winehouse is the surprise guest performer, according to a Paris source. The Grammy winner and fashion heroine is slated to headline an event for 400 happy few that will also feature a presentation of Fendi furs and ready-to-wear by Karl Lagerfeld, plus a range of guest DJs.

MORE MORE MORE!!: Is the prospect of a new fashion week for precollections in Milan as enticing as a plate of penne all'arrabiata? Or would it bring on indigestion in an industry already reeling with a grueling pace of collections and shows? The Italian Chamber of Fashion is about to find out as it defines Milano Moda Precollection, which would consist of showroom presentations and shows twice a year. For pre-spring, retailers would place orders May 20 to June 6 this year, while fashion houses would invite select members of the press to atelierlike presentations and/or shows from May 26-30. For fall, dates would be Nov. 25 to Dec. 12 for retailers, and Dec. 1-5 for press. "The idea is to promote technical shows based on the private, couture-style runway shows of the past," said chamber head Mario Boselli, adding that a men's wear project also is in the works. The scheme is seen as a move to woo back to Italy, brands such as Gucci and Alberta Ferretti, which have been showing cruise in New York.

IN THE FAMILY: Sixties supermodel Twiggy had double reason to show up at Stella McCartney Thursday — her daughter, Carly Whitney, is an assistant designer at the brand. "I've known Stella since she was two days old, and now I've got my daughter here, too. It's family," she said. The icon said she's bringing out a style and beauty book for 40-plus-year-old women with Penguin this fall, but wouldn't give any tips away, insisting: "You've got to buy it, they would kill me." Twiggy also has expanded her clothing line for British catalogue retailer Littlewoods to include bed linen and is still part of Marks & Spencer's celebrity dream team, which has changed around of late. "We haven't done a commercial yet with Lily [Cole] because she's filming and we've lost Laura [Bailey] because she's pregnant," Twiggy said. "I miss her, we've all become close. They're my girls."
