FUR REAL: Eva Mendes is expected to bare all — so to speak — today by unveiling the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals ad she posed for in her birthday suit. More than 1,000 copies of the "Fur? I'd Rather Go Naked" ad will be posted in Manhattan this week. The actress will be sharing her anti-fur stance with shoppers at Rockefeller Center. She said in a statement, "There are way too many amazing faux-fur options out there for people to still be wearing real fur....Respecting all life forms is cool."

Mendes might want to start with her pal Kate Hudson. The two were photographed together Tuesday leaving the Dolce & Gabbana store — with Hudson dressed in a fur jacket.

SHAKE-UP AT TANNER KROLLE: There appears to be a case of déjà vu at the British luxury accessories brand Tanner Krolle. Both Martin Mason, chief executive officer, and creative director Manuela Morin unexpectedly quit the company late last month after an apparent rift with private equity owners Albion Investors. Neither Mason nor Morin, who both joined Tanner Krolle last year, could be reached for comment. A Tanner Krolle spokeswoman did not return phone calls Wednesday. An industry source said the two left following a disagreement with the U.S.-based Albion over the strategic direction of the company and funding-related issues. But this isn't the first time that Albion has locked horns with Tanner Krolle management: In September, 2005, former chief executive Guy Salter quit the company just days after hosting a high-profile press dinner to tout the fall 2005 collection.

FINALLY LEGAL: Ennio Capasa welcomed friends and family to M Studios Monday night for a dinner celebrating Costume National's 21st anniversary. Capasa and brother Carlo flew in their aunt Nathalia to cook — she has also catered affairs for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Mario Testino — for guests Willem Dafoe, Max Minghella, Ann Dexter-Jones and Rufus Albemarle. Dafoe is a longtime friend of the family. The actor married wife Giada at Ennio's home in Puglia and has worked with the designer's sister, Rita, buyer for the brand and an independent film producer.

DAVID CARDONA JOINS ROCK & REPUBLIC: Premium denim label Rock & Republic added David Cardona to its designing ranks. Cardona has joined the Culver City, Calif.-based company as vice president of design, overseeing accessories, denim and ready-to-wear for men and women, under the direction of creative director and co-founder Michael Ball. A former military aircraft designer born in Colombia, Cardona learned tailoring and couture by assisting Richard Tyler before starting a namesake fashion house in 1997. Three years ago, after it proved too difficult to be on his own, Cardona became a creative man for hire at a slew of fashion labels, including Collection Bebe, Cerruti and Development. Ball said Cardona's Latin sensibility and European aesthetics will appeal to Rock & Republic's international customers who aren't afraid to flaunt their sex appeal. Hiring Cardona also helps Rock & Republic build momentum as it readies to open its first retail store next year on Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles. While next fall's collection will reflect some of Cardona's touches, his first full collection will debut in spring 2009.
