JAYSON EXITS: After nearly seven months, Charles Jayson is out as chief executive officer of Andrew Marc. A company spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday that he has left the company. Reached by phone at his home Tuesday, Jayson would only say he has left Andrew Marc and is "actively pursuing other opportunities in the apparel industry."
ON THE MARC: Sarah Ferguson is hosting Thursday's party at Cipriani Wall Street for her foundation, but Marc Bouwer will be getting his share of attention. The designer is dressing the Duchess of York as well as the 20 models who will flank the entrance. Aretha Franklin is the headline performer, and Clive Davis and Emily Mortimer are among the expected guests.
KEEP ON RUNNIN': What do fashion editors do when they are off duty? In Kelly Bensimon's case, she trains for the ING New York City Marathon, which she is running on Sunday. Appropriately, she's attracted donations from brands like Prada, Barneys New York, Jordache, Stuart Weitzman and Sandal benefiting Memorial Sloan-Kettering.
Bensimon only started training for the marathon — her first such event — in September. "I competed in the Hampton Classic Horse Show this summer," she explains. "So I couldn't ride and run."
The two activities don't exactly mesh well, as she found out on a recent weekend in the country. "I had just ridden my horse," she said, "and I remembered I had to run 18 miles. But it turned out I had forgotten my running shorts, so I had to do 18 miles in my riding pants."
Luckily, this Sunday she'll be wearing the proper attire. "I'm nervous," she said. "But my nine-year-old daughter said, 'Go for it, Mommy.'"
FOR A CAUSE: Friends and family came together Monday night for Denise Rich's 10th annual Angel Ball, which raised more than $5 million for The G&P Foundation for Cancer Research. Rich created the foundation in honor of her daughter, Gabrielle Rich Aouad, who died at the age of 27 from leukemia. "I've lost my mother, sister, daughter and best friend all to cancer, so all the women I love so much are up there," said Rich. "They're my angels."
