PARSONS, 0, KENT, 1: Carmen Marc Valvo may call Parsons The New School for Design his alma mater, but as the honoree and judge for the "Stretch to the Future" Design Competition, which partnered RadiciSpandex Corp. and The Fashion School of Kent State University, Valvo wasn't showing school pride. "Parsons has become a machine in the past few years," Valvo said Tuesday night in presenting the student awards. "In judging this competition, it was really rewarding to realize there is a place where students get one-on-one attention and can really grow. I was really impressed by the designs." Twenty-three Kent students tried their hand at using stretch fabrics, and Valvo and RadiciSpandex chief executive officer Marty Moran presented scholarship awards to the competition's three top winners: grand prize and swimwear winner Kristy Chen, first prize and eveningwear winner Teresa Calabrese, and second prize and sportswear winner Stephanie Green. In honor of Radici's Italian roots, the event was held at the Italian Trade Commission.

A funeral service for Isabella Blow will take place Tuesday at Gloucester Cathedral in Gloucester, England - the same church in which the stylist and fashion editor got married to Detmar Blow in 1989.
