IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST: Earnest Sewn has a busy month ahead. On Wednesday, the denim label will celebrate its new Repetto shop-in-shop with a party hosted by Jessica Stam, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Waris Ahluwalia. The Virgins will play at the Meatpacking District boutique. Then on Friday, Earnest Sewn's second location, a clothing store-greenhouse-movie theater on the Lower East Side, will open on Orchard Street. The festivities, however, will be saved for a later date. Clear your calendar for Sept. 20.

GET SPORTY: Jonathan Saunders has tied up another collaboration deal. The London-based designer will introduce a line of men's and women's casual shoes with British sportswear brand Gola for spring-summer. Dubbed Gola by Jonathan Saunders, the collection will hit stores internationally in January. "[Gola] is really aware of fashion and what works and what doesn't," said Saunders, adding he will likely produce a few seasonal collections for the firm. The line, which will use suede, canvas and leather in a broad color palette, will include ballerina styles for women and high-and low-top sneakers for men. It is Gola's first global collaboration with a designer. Saunders is already increasing his profile with a limited edition line of color cosmetics he created for Boots the Chemists' 17 brand, which will hit Boots stores starting Sept. 12.

ONLINE PREVIEW: There are different ways for designers to launch a new line. One option is to produce a runway extravaganza in Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week. Another is showing the collection online. That's what the boys from Shipley & Halmos, the label from ex-Trovata duo Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos, have chosen to do to celebrate their first men's wear line. Looks from their spring men's collection will be available exclusively on Men.Style.com beginning today. The CondéNet site produced and photographed the images, to be displayed as a look book. The site will also include interviews with the designers about the collection. The package will live on the site's Style Notes section.

GEN ART'S BANDITS: Fresh-faced designers won't be the only ones getting a boost from Gen Art. After the group show, the band Slinky Vagabond will perform for only the second time in public — the other occasion was the seventh annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash on May 19. Fashion designer and Gen Art Fresh Faces alumnus Keanan Duffty will be knocking out a few keys along with David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick, Blondie's Clem Burke and the Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock. Their fashion week debut will signal the start of the group's first tour.
DOUBLE DUTY: Model Erin Wasson will be really styling next week. The Texas-born 25-year-old is the stylist for Alexander Wang's Sept. 6 show, but that doesn't mean she will be missing out on show coverage. Wang has lined up an exclusive so that Wasson's behind-the-scenes moves will be well-documented. But she's not the only catwalker moonlighting. The night before Alek Wek will read from her memoir "Alek: From the Streets of the Sudan to the Runways of Milan and New York" at Barnes & Noble's Sixth Avenue store. Wek will also be on hand Tuesday morning at the Empire State Building for the lighting ceremony signaling Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Sasha Pivovarova, Tracy Reese and Fern Mallis will also help pull the switch, illuminating the landmark in orange, purple and red.

CHILD'S PLAY: Lela Rose has teamed up with Quinny Buzz to create a limited edition Thumbprint Collection stroller and Dreami bassinet, which will hit specialty stores Saturday Rose's children Grey and Rosey helped out with the designs — their thumbprints were used for a print that adorns the $1,000 stroller and the $400 bassinet.
