RED MOMENT: Salvatore Ferragamo is handing over the creative baton to customers with its new Red Carpet project, which allows clients to custom design their own formalwear shoes. Six models, from pumps to sandals, are available to choose from in a range of 23 different colored satins, with the option to monogram them as well. All in all, the process takes about six weeks. Red Carpet will debut shortly in select Ferragamo boutiques worldwide, and the brand plans to change up the customizable options each season.
The project is being launched in tandem with the release of “The Tourist,” starring Angelina Jolie in the role of Elise, for whom a collection of shoes was specially designed by the Italian fashion house in collaboration with costume designer Colleen Atwood. The line revolves around Ferragamo’s classic stiletto pump, which will be sold in a limited edition reissued version dubbed the “Elise” shoe, in select sales points throughout the world later this month.
