Gwyneth Paltrow in Dennis Hopper's short film for Tod's.

HOPPER, SKIP AND A JUMP: Actor and director Dennis Hopper completed a new short film in coordination with Italian accessories brand Tod's on Friday. Hopper, a longtime friend of Tod's chief executive officer Diego Della Valle, filmed a day in the life of Gwyneth Paltrow in Italy with her Tod's Pashmy bag. The four minute, yet-to-be-named short will debut at the Cannes Film Festival and will then play on the Tod's Web site.

SPECIAL GUEST: Lindsay Lohan is expected in Paris tonight as a special guest at the Fornarina Urban Beauty Show, being held in the French capital for the first time. The sixth edition of the Italian fashion brand's art event, held at the Carrousel du Louvre, will also feature installations by artists including American painter Glenn Barr, French graffiti artist Miss Van and internationally renowned comic strip artist Moebius, plus a performance by emerging electro band New Young Pony Club.

HOME AGAIN: Peter Som returned Thursday to his home turf in San Francisco to show his fall Bill Blass collection at a Saks Fifth Avenue lunch and trunk show, where he shared his rugged side. As a teenager growing up across the Golden Gate Bridge in hilly Marin County's Mill Valley, "I used to hike the Dipsea trail and when I got to Stinson Beach I'd call my parents to pick me up," said Som, about the challenging seven miles to the Pacific Ocean. However, this trip Som didn't have time to retrace his steps, and didn't even find his mother at home in the city's Cow Hollow neighborhood. "The irony is my mother and stepfather are in France now and they have house guests, so I'm staying at the Kimpton. They are excited I'm here from afar," laughed Som, who also swapped names of favorite San Francisco dim sum haunts with his tablemates, all concluding the Cha Shu Bow pork rolls at Yank Sing near the Ferry Building are still tops.

CHINA WALK: Louis Vuitton is introducing its most affordable travel-themed product yet — airfare not included. The French luxury giant has created MP3 audio guides for three Chinese cities, with one-hour walking tours narrated by famous actresses: Gong Li for Beijing, Joan Chen for Shanghai and Shu Qi for Hong Kong. They will be available for download for $17 at Vuitton's Web site and louisvuittonsoundwalk.com starting June 16. Chen, for example, guides visitors through the neighborhood of her youth, Shanghai's French Concession, recounting childhood memories. The Vuitton audio guides, produced in collaboration with New York-based media firm Soundwalk, are an offshoot of its City Guides and launched in tandem with the Olympic Games in Beijing this summer.
