Fashion Scoops: Guilt Trip... Sixteen Candles... Calvin Klein Double-Time...

GUILT TRIP: In “The Nanny Diaries,” Laura Linney plays a very fashionably attired woman around 40 whose small son spends virtually all his time with the nanny. Understandably, some of the very fashionably attired moms in attendance at a screening last week had some issues about being out on the town watching the film when their kids were at home waiting for them. “They’re with the nanny,” Cynthia Rowley said afterward, with a palpable sense of horror. “And I feel like I should be home reading stories to them and singing to them in French.” Jennifer Creel was less interested in discussing the matter, though. “Mine are in the Adirondacks,” she said at the dinner, held at Swifty’s. With their nanny? She shook her head, then looked away. Does she have a nanny? “Only in the winter,” Creel said. Perhaps predictably, Linney said there was lots of research material when she was slipping into character. “You look at the mothers in New York who are really attentive and you look at the ones who are not so attentive. You know what these women are like.” Whatever could she have meant?

SIXTEEN CANDLES: Tonight, MTV viewers will be treated to an uncharacteristically poignant episode of the network’s hit series “My Super Sweet 16.” The reality show, which typically chronicles the party-planning exploits of America’s most overindulged adolescents, will air a special installment in which one cancer-stricken teen will receive a full head of hair. Stephanie White of Lindenhurst, N.Y, who suffers from lymphoma and lost nearly all of her hair due to chemotherapy, asked the program’s producers to help restore her long, flowing tresses. The show’s staffers enlisted the expertise of hairstylist Rodolfo Valentin, who coiffed the birthday girl with raven-colored Hair Infusion extensions. And, to complement Valentin’s efforts, the folks at MTV tapped Heatherette to whip up a red-and-black studded gown, according to White’s specifications. Of course, the music network did not leave the teen all dressed up with no place to go — producers threw the birthday girl a bash at Manhattan’s cavernous Roseland Ballroom.
