GIORGIO'S VISIT: Giorgio Armani may be centered in Beverly Hills for the weekend, here to re-stage his Armani Prive show at Ron Burkle's estate Green Acres Saturday and to attend the Oscars on Sunday with niece Roberta. But he'll venture elsewhere in the Golden State on Monday, when he heads to San Francisco, a city he hasn't visited for years. "It has been 15 years since we opened our Emporio store there [in Union Square] and now it's time to change it. We're going to look and see what we can do to modernize it," he said, in the midst of his model casting Friday. "In recent years we have been opening and renovating Emporio stores in London and elsewhere and I wants San Francisco to have that same strength." When asked what the common thread was that runs from Emporio through to Prive, Armani said simply, "The love of a woman when she is beautifully dressed."

"I forgot my energy-boosting vitamins, so I'm relying on caffeine" What really woke up the lunching ladies was not coffee, but a chance to win shoes and a bag by correctly guessing Sunday's Oscar winners. "We'll play now," belted Medavoy when told of the prize. Designer Sandra Choi hinted that actresses walking the Academy Awards' red carpet are opting for towering heels, up to Jimmy Choo's tallest at 120 mm. "It is totally wearable, but for how long, I will not say," she teased.
