Yves Saint Laurent sent a shout-out through cyberspace Tuesday for 130 extras — tall, elegant “beautiful people” — aged 25 to 50 to be in an advertisement.

Castingdujour.com e-mailed the announcement, explaining the casting is expected to take place this week and that the shoot will happen over one day between Dec. 13 and 15 in Paris and its environs. The pay will be 150 euros, or $200 at current exchange.

CHIRICO’S NIGHT: Emanuel Chirico, chairman and chief executive officer of Phillips-Van Heusen Corp., and Jeff Kantor, president of merchandising at macys.com, have been selected as the 2011 honorees for the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund. In addition, the founders of Visionaire — Cecilia Dean, Stephen Gan and James Kaliardos — will receive the organization’s first-ever Future of Fashion Award, acknowledging 20 years of creative contributions to fashion. The honorees will be recognized at the 45th annual YMA FSF Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Awards Dinner on Jan. 11 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

DUELING PARTIES: It was W the magazine vs. W the hotel on Thursday. While Aby Rosen and Samantha Boardman held a dinner at the hotel’s Solea that rolled over to the Wall late night, Stefano Tonchi, De Beers and Daphne Guinness were glamming it up for a cherry-picked crowd of 100 at Soho House. Susan Sarandon, Stefano Pilati, Francisco Costa, Silvia Fendi, Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, Goga Ashkenazi, Kim Heirston, Ambra Medda and Mera Rubell, sporting a lavender wig, were among the guests, but all eyes were on Guinness for good reason. Decked out in De Beers diamonds and a slim, cream Givenchy getup with HotPants and a sheer overlay, she couldn’t have sparkled more. Even her hair part was meticulously flecked with silver glitter.

“I was upstairs with all my makeup and duct tape, because I don’t use anyone to help me dress and do it all myself. And I thought, How can I make this part look better?” she said.

Meanwhile, La Mer took the Art Basel plunge with a private pop-up spa at a secret South Beach location. Local tastemakers such as Jennifer Rubell and celebrities (they were trying to squeeze in Michael Stipe the last day, which was fully booked) were treated to one-hour facials by the most requested pros from the company’s Urban Retreat Spa in Harrods.

SIR PAUL’S MELROSE MILESTONE: Paul Smith celebrated five years on Melrose Avenue with a 325-person bash at its pink box of a boutique Thursday night. Multigenerations of music types — from producer Andy Slater to Michael Des Barres to Ione Skye and Kelly Osbourne — came out to lounge in the outdoor living room around a bonfire, while nattily dressed gentlemen like Greg Gorman and Skye’s husband, Ben Lee, perused the shop. The crowd did put down their Champagne to take in an a cappella performance by The Silver Lake Chorus, whose first album, produced by Lee, will contain tracks written by Beck, Zooey Deschanel and Aimee Mann.

COSTUME PARTY: There’s no slowing down for octogenarian Hubert de Givenchy. Attending an event on Thursday night honoring Franco-German jeweler Lorenz Bäumer in the German embassy’s sumptuous Hôtel de Beauharnais headquarters in Paris, the retired designer revealed he’s working on another fashion exhibition for the Château de Haroué, an 18th-century castle that was built and is still owned by the Beauvau-Craon family in France’s Lorraine region, near Nancy.

Opening next May, the upcoming show will be based on the costumes of legendary Italian director Luchino Visconti’s films, such as “The Leopard,” “Ludwig” and “Death in Venice.” “It will be interesting to be able to show the beauty of Piero Tosi’s costumes,” said Givenchy, who curated the site’s recent show, “Cristóbal Balenciaga, Venet, Givenchy at Château de Haroué,” which wrapped up this August.

WASTE FREE: Keeping things local, the Fashion Center has a new window display, thanks to the handiwork of some LIM College visual merchandising students. Up through Jan. 5 at 209 West 38th Street, the eye candy is called “Repurpose…Recycle…Reflect.” To that end, the department’s associate chair, Marjorie Lee Woo, had her crew reimagine reusable items, such as the paper wedding gown seen on a female mannequin. The school’s president, Elizabeth S. Marcuse, said, “Hands-on experience in the fashion industry has always been a hallmark of an LIM College education, and this collaboration really exemplifies that.”

PRIVACY AND MORE: Prada hosted a small cocktail party last week to introduce a new customizable line of sunglasses, dubbed Prada Private, with retail partner Sunglass Hut. The Sunglass Hut on Fifth Avenue was outfitted with three computer terminals, where socialites Julie Macklowe, Jennifer Creel and Lisa Airan chose to have their shades accented with monograms, skulls and whatever else struck their fancy. Jessica Stam looked on as the sunglass engineers went about their work. The house DJ, clearly a master of restraint, only spun Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses at Night” once.

“Customization and personalization is a huge need, a desire that consumers have,” said Marcello Favagrossa, Sunglass Hut’s vice president of marketing. “This is a driver of customer engagement that we want to exploit more in the future.”

Favagrossa said Sunglass Hut is working on a similar pilot program with Oakley.
