Fashion Scoops: Black And White... Over and Out

BLACK AND WHITE: Veteran designer Joanna Mastroianni and her photographer beau, Gideon Lewin, hosted a 90th birthday party for legendary fashion photographer Lillian Bassman Tuesday night. The black-and-white themed soiree was designed to match Bassman's two favorite colors — and her photographs — which lined the halls of Mastroianni's Garment District showroom. Carol Alt, Roxanne Lowit and Zelda Kaplan helped toast the nonagenarian, who wore a metallic silver jacket and shoes just to let everyone know she was the birthday girl. Later this month, Bassman and her artist-photographer husband, Paul Himmel, will have a joint exhibit at Galerie f5.6 in Munich. Bassman's work is also in the permanent collection of London's Victoria and Albert Museum, and Himmel's photographs currently can be seen at the Whitney Museum.

OVER AND OUT: At least Kevin Connolly was satisfied with the "Sopranos" finale. While the last scene of the HBO mafia drama left most of America wondering what happened after Tony, Carmela, A.J. and Meadow gather for dinner at a local diner while menacing characters mull about the restaurant, Connolly, one of the stars of HBO hit "Entourage," called the cut-to-black ending "very grown up." As for whether "Entourage" would go out with a similar bang, Connolly hopes that day never comes, calling his gig on the show "the greatest job you could ever have," since it shoots in fair-weather — and fair-ladied — Los Angeles. "I'll do 60 seasons of 'Entourage!' I'll jump the shark!" Connolly appears on the upcoming issue of Hamptons magazine — his first-ever magazine cover — and celebrated at a private dinner thrown by the magazine at The Friar's Club in New York.
