Penélope Cruz, chic in a vintage black lace Chanel gown, won the best supporting actress award for her role as the zany ex-wife of Javier Bardem (her current companion) in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” while Benicio Del Toro picked up the best actor prize for “Che.”
It was Madrid-born Cruz’s third Goya and the “green carpet” ceremony raised the bar for glamour over past editions. Presenters included Paz Vega, in a frothy pink strapless dress by local designer Hannibal Laguna; TV personality and Cruz confidant Goya Toledo in Dior; award-winning actress Belén Rueda in a white crystal-embroidered floor sweeper by Carolina Herrera, and Pilar Bardem (Javier’s mother) draped in her signature baubles.
