SIMPSON’S GALAXY: Now that H&M has bowed out of NBC’s “Fashion Star,” Express has stepped in for the show’s second season. Along with host Louise Roe, Express’ director of visual merchandising Erika De Salvatore has joined the show which will be back on the air March 8. Celebrity mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos will get an earful from Da Salvatore and her fellow buyers, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Terron Schaefer and Macy’s Caprice Willard. The retail trio had a good sense of camaraderie with the VIPs, according to De Salvatore.
After each episode, her picks will be sold at express.com/fs and following the May 10 season finale, select Express stores will carry the line bought by Express, licensed through NBC Universal Television Consumer Products. During this season’s taping in Los Angeles, Simpson kept the cast and crew laughing with her one-liners. De Salvatore explained, “Once she said, ‘Sometimes I may only want to show my drumsticks,’” meaning her legs.
