WOOL WINNER: Sibling emerged on Tuesday as the European selection for the 2013-14 International Woolmark Prize, awarded in Milan.

A collaboration between Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, Sibling was launched in 2008. The judges zoomed in on Sibling and its wool bodysuit and jacket because “they demonstrated to be the more complete and mature label, and their creative research, joint with their knowledge of wool and knitwear, was the key factor,” according to Angela Missoni.

Sibling will receive 50,000 Australian dollars, or $46,108 at current exchange, and will take part in the international competition, representing Europe during the final event that will take place in Milan in February. For the next six months, the designers will be required to develop a capsule collection in merino wool to be showcased along those of the five other finalists from around the world.
